Abstract/Preface
Water forms the fundamental matrix of life, constituting the internal environment in which cellular and systemic physiological processes occur. In humans, body fluids are not distributed uniformly but are organized into distinct compartments separated by selectively permeable biological membranes. This compartmentalization allows precise regulation of volume, osmotic balance, and electrolyte composition, thereby ensuring optimal cellular performance and systemic homeostasis.
